The railway network in Spawn currently has a major deficiency. Because of the layout of Riverside Junction, it is impossible to route trains from Riverside or South Forest directly to the west of the map (Trisiston, Trap City a.s.o), or vice versa without either taking a major detour or reversing at Spawn Main Station.

The only feasible route for such trains would be via Spawn 21, the narrow tunnel under Library station and the underground part of Euler Street, however this route is owned by Och_Noe and Euler Street Underground is not completed yet. Especially for freight trains, this route is not suitable.

Reworking Riverside junction, however, was not possible for a long time, as the place where potential tracks were to be located was occupied by buildings. Lately, these buildings have been demolished, so there's now space.

Proposal

  • Construction of a track pair from the South Forest line towards the west
  • Double-track connection of Riverside branch towards Spawn Main Station
  • Construction of a second track from the west line towards Spawn 21

Instead of having the accesses to Spawn 21 beyond the junction, as it is now, it might also be considered whether the Spawn 21 access could instead be built north of the junction, in the long section between Riverside Junction and the Fat Radish pub. This is yet to be decided.

The exact layout of the implemented junction is not decided yet, but it should allow as many parallel train moves as possible, and could also include further bridges or tunnel sections.
